Over the Easter Weekend 2016, Professors Gary Leeke and Liam Grover attempted the International Devizes to Westminster Race, putting a kayak made from recycled composites to the test.
You can read Gary and Liam’s blog about their experience.
The weather was terrible, thanks to “Storm Katie” resulting in the team pulling out after 16 hours, and 85 miles of gruelling conditions. But the kayak proved that it was up to the job, and that recycled composites can be used to create high specification sporting goods.
Watch the film showing how the kayak was made:
Read our Recycled Kayak briefing note to find out how the kayak was created.
We have created some photo galleries so you can see the materials being created in the lab, the manufacture of the kayak, and the race itself.
